Quick answers
How much does Pozas Celestes cost?
$30 per person, with a minimum of 2 people. A 50% deposit is required to book (PayPal accepted), with the remaining 50% paid in cash to your guide on the day of the tour.
Why are the pools blue?
The color comes from volcanic minerals dissolved in the water, the same effect that gives Río Celeste its name farther south in Costa Rica.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes — it's the easiest and shortest tour we offer, with a flat, short walk and pools shallow enough for children to enjoy with supervision.
Can I swim in the pools?
Yes, swimming is the main reason to come — bring a swimsuit and a towel along with your hiking clothes.
Costa Rica's blue pools, without the crowds
Most travelers only know about the famous blue river down south. Bajos del Toro has its own version, tucked into the cloud forest and reached by a short, easy walk from the trailhead — no long drive, no crowds, no queue for photos.
The walk in is flat and takes about 20–30 minutes at an easy pace, following the river before opening onto the pools. Once there, most groups spend an hour or more swimming, resting on the rocks and taking photos before the walk back.
Why this is our easiest tour
